When a Chinese supplier tells you that a product is “CE compliant,” shows you a test report, or says they have manufactured similar products before, it can be tempting to assume that compliance is taken care of. But if regulators ask questions later, the responsibility for proving that the product meets the applicable requirements may still sit with your business.

In this episode of the China Manufacturing Decoded podcast, our host Adrian is joined by Lee Bryan, founder and CEO of Arcus Compliance, to explore what good product compliance looks like in practice for companies developing and manufacturing products in China for the UK and European markets.

They discuss when compliance should be considered during product development, how to verify supplier certificates and test reports, where AI can help with regulatory research, when design or component changes may trigger reassessment or retesting, and why treating compliance as an ongoing business responsibility can reduce risk and even become a competitive advantage.
